Quatrefoil
Four lobes on the corners of a square. The square turned within the square, ad quadratum, is the move Mathes Roriczer teaches in his pinnacle booklet of 1486.
In the faith
Gothic painters and goldsmiths often framed the four living creatures of Revelation 4, read since Irenaeus as the four evangelists, in quatrefoils like this one.
